The Green Starbucks Cup, Designed to Bring People Together, Is Just Another Thing to Be Pissed About
Starbucks is trying to bring people together amidst this horrendous election through the use of their cup designs.
I don’t think they were trying to target any one audience in particular, Starbucks has a vast following and I think they were just trying to reinforce their current customers while also bringing in new ones.
They now have green cups for the holiday season that feature a bunch of little people smushed together throughout the cup as a sign of togetherness. They wanted to remind their customers that no matter what your opinion is, we are all connected.
The cup itself is owned and they also posted about their new design on their twitter account. This has gained some earned media as well, I have seen retweets of the cup and people responding with their thoughts on Starbucks new attempt at not offending people during the Holidays.
I think the brand purpose of this new cup is social responsibility. They want people to be nice and not hate each other which is a nice peaceful thing to do in my opinion.
